Brent Richard Neville or "Nev", as he was known in his teenage years was born on October 5, 1984, in Red Deer, Alberta. His family includes his very proud parents, Rick and Aleta, his older sister, Shelley, and younger brother, Ryan.

Brent was the perfect child. As a baby he slept through the night and never caused us a moment of concern. When Brent was a year we moved to Truro, Nova Scotia, for three years, before moving back to Red Deer for another three years. Again the family was uprooted to follow their Father's career, and they moved to Forestburg, Alberta. During those moves Brent and his siblings never complained. These communities were involved in shaping Brent's life and he retained many fond memories and friendships from these two wonderful towns.

In 1994, we transferred back to Red Deer and the kids were told that the "anchor" was out and we would be staying. By this time, Brent had developed into a socially adaptable youth who was very active in school and sports. School came naturally for Brent and he was an honor student throughout his school years. All his report cards indicated "what a pleasure he was to have in class".

Brent loved all sports and, in particular, hockey, baseball and golf. Participating in these sports would take up much of the year. Brent was gifted in all three sports and loved playing them. He continued to play these sports throughout his life.

After completing high school, Brent entered into the Business Program at Red Deer College and Athabasca University. It was during those years that Brent informed his family that he wanted to follow his father's footsteps and join the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Naturally, we were proud of his decision but asked that he complete college first. As usual, Brent complied and had just finished college and was in the process of applying for the RCMP when the crash happened. Brent was known for being so accommodating. At 13, he understood the value of employment, and got a job at the Red Deer Golf and Country Club. He worked there for 4 years and learned discipline and social skills from dealing with adults. While at College, Brent worked at Costco and in over three years never missed a day's work. Brent was a good money manager and left a healthy savings account and a credit balance on his credit card.

Brent will be remembered for the great friendships that he made. He had a group of close friends that stuck together since childhood but he would befriend many others. He had a way of attracting people and he never had a bad word to say about anyone. Brent was respectful to everyone including elders, friends, workmates, teammates as well as opponents. Brent could never say no to a friend.

As you can see from the many pictures included on this website, Brent always had a smile. Every time he met someone he always had a big grin on his face and a sparkle in his eye. On March 17, 2006 (his Mom's birthday), Brent was killed in a car crash caused by an impaired driver. With his death we lost so much, as did this world. At 21 years of age, Brent had so much to offer and he had already made such a positive impact on so many lives.

Brent never hesitated to say "I Love You" to his family, and said so every time he went out the door. We take great comfort in knowing that Brent loved us and that he knew how much we loved him.
